Our School
Attendance
Our Lady of Good Help Catholic Primary School recognises that regular attendance is vital for every pupil. Irregular and poor attendance will have an adverse effect on educational attainment. Poor punctuality undermines learning and teaching.
It is important that every pupil develops good habits which will enable them to realise their potential and make a positive contribution to school life and society. Parents have a legal responsibility for ensuring that their children attend school regularly. They must also ensure that their children are in school on time, in correct uniform and ready to learn. Support will be given to parents wherever necessary, to encourage full attendance and good punctuality.
The school will take a register twice daily and record the information generated.
During #OLGHpe, we looked at defending. We worked on intercepting passes and shots. We talked about defending as a team and making sure we communicated with our teammates. During #OLGHEnglish, we began our new book ‘Float’ by Daniel Miyares. We made our own paper boats using imperative verbs. A huge thank you to our lovely volunteers from our community, who are helping transform our sensory room and school grounds. We can’t wait for the areas to be finished and for the children to use them. #olgh #olghcommunity #communityworkingtogether #olghwellbeing #catholiclife What a great week in school! @WorldBookDayUK was fab - so many great costumes & activities, esp. the reading cafe & the masked reader comp! Thank you to all parents for supporting it. Today in RE, Year 1 have been learning about Palm Sunday. We reenacted Jesus' entry into Jerusalem, greeted by people waving palm branches. This is a reminder for people to welcome Jesus into their hearts and to be willing to follow him. #olghy1 #olghRE Year 1 have been busy assembling their windmills. We attached our sails today. We can’t wait to complete them next week. #olghyear1 #olghdt @kapowprimary In DT today we have been planning how the wheel and axel in our ferris wheels are going to work when we begin building them next week. #OLGHDT #OLGHY2 #OLGHRHSE This #OLGHy5 pupil presents her work with such #pride and has learnt about planning #healthy meals and the risks associated with the #sun. @kapowprimary #OLGHy5 These super #scientists are very #proud of their definitions of #metamorphosis #OLGHScience @anna_hep During #OLGHre, we gathered and responded to our question, What can I do at school and home to live in communion with others? We had a wonderful class discussion and talked about how we can all live in communion. We used our magic fingers to create snow that never melts. Then, we used our magic to make it snow. We had so much fun and even made some snow angels. #olghy1 Using our prior knowledge from history, we recreated the iconic picture of the Beatles on the zebra crossing. #olghy1 #olghhistory Y1 went on a fantastic trip to Imagine That! We had an absolutely amazing time, making slime, exploring the science area, engaging in role play, making snow, and finally painting our own magnets. #olghy1 #olghscience @imaginethatliv Y1 had so much fun participating in activities such as a costume parade, masked reader quiz, welcoming a guest reader, and enjoying juice and biscuits in the reading cafe with Year 5 students, who kindly read to us. #WorldBookDay #olghy1 In performance club we have been learning about dynamics and began learning twinkle twinkle on the glockenspiels. #OLGHPerformanceclub #OLGHCatholiclife As part of @WorldBookDayUK, Year 6 have enjoyed a parade in the school hall, ‘Reading cafe’ with our buddies, The masked teacher challenge and a visit from a secret teacher to read a book! #OLGHy6 #OLGHreading #OLGHenglish #welovetoread During #WorldBookDay2024, #OLGHy4 created their very own comic strip, based on the book Traction Man.
